ELEMENTARY COACH HUB

  • Elementary students in grades K-5 can participate on their school's team.
  • Annual dues for an Elementary school are $350.
  • Once the school/district pays these dues, their students are eligible to participate in Governor's Cup and the other competitions listed below (unless otherwise stated).

Events

This class is available to coaches and teams to learn the FPS process. Registration fee is $75.

Coaches can attend the Conference in Louisville each year. Registration fees range from $185-$225.

The Kentucky Governor's Cup is the KAAC flagship event.

Allowing elementary schools to compete in District and Regional level competitions each academic season.

Students can take part in Quick Recall, Future Problem Solving, Content Assessment, and Written Composition to earn points for their school.

This event is not included in the annual dues. If you register for this event, there is a $100 registration fee.

The Sixth Grade Showcase is an academic event designed to provide a competitive opportunity for Kentucky’s sixth graders, who are sometimes “lost” between elementary (4-5) and middle grades (6-8) Governor’s Cup competition.

Coach and Official Certification is not necessary for this event.

The 2026-27 competition dates are:

  • Registration Deadline - Oct 26
  • Planning Meeting - Nov 19
  • Composition - Dec 1
  • Quick Recall/Assessment - Dec 5

This event is included in the annual dues paid by your school or district.

Students/Teams/Districts/Leagues can register at the link below to take part in the Pre-Season Content Assessment Week.

There is no limit to the number of tests each student can take, so if you want to take all subjects, go for it.

The 2026-27 competition dates are:

  • Registration Deadline - Dec 3
  • Tuesday, Dec 8 - Math & Science
  • Wednesday, Dec 9 - Social Studies & General Knowledge
  • Thursday, Dec 10 - Language Arts & Arts & Humanities

This event is included in the annual dues paid by your school or district.

General Knowledge isn't part of Governor's Cup, but rather an additional competitive opportunity for Kentucky students. It consists of questions equally balanced among the five Governor’s Cup subject areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Arts/Humanities.

The 2026-27 Elementary competition Dates are:

  • Registration closes the day before the competition.
  • District Level: January 27
  • Regional/State Level: February 17

This event is included in the annual dues paid by your school or district.

KAAC sponsors FPS Junior Division for students in grades 4-6. The Junior Division is offered as a separate competition and is not part of Governor’s Cup Competition.

The 2026-27 competition Dates are:

  • Registration Deadline: TBD
  • Qualifying Competition: TBD
  • State Competition: March 19, 2027 at the Governor’s Cup State Finals.

CmPS provides one of the most significant learning experiences available to a student confronting a real-life problem. A community problem may be one that exists within the school setting, local community, region, state, or nation.

There are two types of CmPS: Individual and Team.

The 2026-27 competition Dates are:

  • Project Submission Deadline: TBD
  • State Competition: March 22, 2027 at the Governor’s Cup State Finals.

Scenario Writing helps to encourage futuristic thinking as students create images of the future. A scenario is a short story in which one possible outcome of the future is developed through character(s) and plot. Scenarios are predictions of the future and are written as though the future was the present.

The 2026-27 Competition Dates are:

Scenario Performance (ScP) was designed to sustain the oral storytelling traditions, thus participants showcase their creativity through verbal communication.  Remember, this is storytelling, not story writing.  Scenario Performance is not the memorization of lines for a drama, but should be "told" in a more natural or "spontaneous" nature.

This event is not included in the annual dues. If you register for this event, there is a $35 registration fee per individual.

In Individual FPS one student works through the FPS process. Individuals generate 8 challenges in Step 1, and 8 solution ideas in Step 3. Steps 2, 4, 5 and 6 are exactly the same as the team competition.
