Throughout the year, KAAC member schools host invitational tournaments and events in preparation for Governor’s Cup. They are posted here with information about registration for these local events.

Metcalfe County High School, located in Edmonton, KY (near Glasgow and Elizabethtown), is excited to announce that we are hosting the return of our quiz bowl tournament, the Hornet Sting, on November 7, 2026.
Doors will open at 8 a.m. CST. We will have an opening player/coach meeting at 8:30 a.m. CST, with gameplay to begin at 9 a.m. CST.
This tournament will use the NAQT IS-254A question set. We will play untimed rounds of 20 tossups and 20 bonuses, with 15 point powers and -5 point negs. Team rosters may consist of up to six players, with no more than four players at a time. Teams with less than four players are welcome. Players cannot move between teams. Schools are welcome to register two teams.
Play will be round robin pools in the morning, with re-bracketed afternoon pool play as well. All teams will be guaranteed at least 9 games.
The initial field cap will be 18 teams, and we will expand the field if needed based on interest/staffing availability. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
Entry fees:
$95 for the initial team from a school, and $85 for any additional teams from a school.
There will be a -$10 discount per working buzzer system (that does not require a laptop/operator).

Middle School Tournament only, but has 6th Grade and Varsity levels.
We will be hosting a High School Division (NAQT IS-A questions) and a Middle School Division (NAQT MS questions). There will be two tournaments occurring simultaneously using different question sets.
Metcalfe County High School is excited to announce that we will be hosting an IceQuickle mirror tournament on January 9, 2027.
This will provide an excellent chance for your team to practice quick recall in the weeks before Governor's Cup District Competition.
Event Details:
- MCHS is located in Edmonton, KY (between Glasgow and Columbia on the Cumberland Parkway).
- Doors will open at 8 a.m.; we will have a short meeting for coaches, officials and teams at 8:30 and begin play at 9 a.m.
- We will have pizza available to order for lunch from Pizza Hut or teams can go out to several local restaurants if they wish. I will send out details about pizza orders and so forth closer to the event.
- We will have round robin pool play in the morning and re-pair after lunch for more pool play. Teams will be re-paired based on results from the morning pools, with ties broken based on points per game.
- Teams will be guaranteed at least eight rounds of competition, and there will be no playoffs.
- The question set will be the 2026-27 IceQuickle questions prepared by KQBA coaches.
- We will use KAAC quick recall timing and scoring rules with bounce back bonuses. Halves will be 15 minutes or 40 questions, whichever comes first.
- The event will be capped at 18 teams initially, but we will add teams if needed as long as staffing availability and space allows.
Entry fees will be $90 for the first team and $80 for the second team from each school, with a $10 discount available per working buzzer system provided. If your system requires a computer/operator, you will need to supply those as well.
