Mentors, Rotation, and Hosting Status
This link will take you to the spreadsheet that will show your hosting level, your regional mentor, and the regional rotation for this season.
Notes:
The list shows the district/region you are in for the 2026 season. Some slight adjustments may be necessary as hosts confirm their assignments.
If a school's district/region number is showing >1000 that school is no longer active.
The KAAC Board of Directors has worked to redo the process of assigning hosts for our events and to give schools the information on their current hosting status. Please review this information to ensure that you understand the process.
Hosting Levels & Mentors Overview
- Every Governor's Cup Region will be assigned a hosting mentor. This person will help coordinate hosting in their region and answer questions that coaches may have to better ensure a smooth competition season. The link below will list the region mentor and their contact information.
- Hosting a Governor's Cup District (GC-D), JV Challenge (JV), or 6th Grade Showcase (6G) will earn a school a level 4 status at the end of the school year.
- Hosting a Governor's Cup Region (GC-R) will earn a school a level 5 status at the end of the school year.
- If a school hosts multiple events in the same year, the highest level earned will be applied; it will not be compounded.
- Each successive year the hosting level will decrease by 1.
- If the school changes district/region, their hosting level will remain with the school, and they will be ranked within the new group.
- Refusal to host will result in a school returning to level 0 status, unless KAAC approves a special circumstance.
Regional Hosting Mentors
Each competition region will be assigned a Regional Hosting Mentor. KAAC currently has 16 High School, 20 Middle Grades, and 31 Elementary regions. This position will work with the teams/coaches in that region to support hosting efforts.
- Facilitate the assigning of the Regional host site based on the rotation schedule (unless a school volunteers).
- Answer questions about hosting and best practices.
- Ensure that all host sites conduct their planning meeting and competitions in accordance with KAAC guidelines.
- Each mentor will receive a $50 stipend at the end of the season.
- You may be the mentor for multiple divisions (EL, MG, HS) and multiple regions if you want to take on that responsibility. You will need to fill out the form below for each division/region you wish to mentor.

Governor's Cup District Information
- Any school may volunteer to host a district-level event at the link below.
- If more than one school in the same district volunteers to host the KAAC office will determine the assignment.
- If you choose to volunteer, and are assigned, you may take the level 4 status or you may gift it to another school in your district.
- If there are no volunteers from a district then the school with the lowest hosting level will be assigned.
- Schools that were assigned to host JV or 6G in that school year will not be considered. In that case the school with the next lowest level will be assigned.
- If schools are tied for the lowest level the KAAC office will determine the assignment.
- Once a school is assigned (typically mid-November) they have three options:
- Accept the assignment and earn the level 4 status,
- Find another school in the district willing to take over as host. In this case the new school will earn the level 4 status or may choose to gift it to the original school,
- Refuse to accept or find an alternate host. In this case the school will forfeit participation for the school year and their status will be reset to 0. Then the next lowest will be assigned.
Governor's Cup Region Information

- The school representatives in the assigned district group will work with the region mentor to finalize the assignment.
