2025 FPS Cohort Information

This Cohort will provide 1 hour, instruction based classes to walk teams and coaches through the FPS process using a future scene based on the district topic.

Teams may choose to stay for an additional 30 minutes following the lesson to practice writing the step covered in that day's lesson. During this 30 minutes the Program Director will review writing and offer feedback.

Registered teams will receive electronic research packets on the district, region, and state topic during the first session. Teams may use these packets to assist with writing various components of the FPS Process.

All classes will be prepped and led by the FPS Program Director, Chris Hill

All teams will be able to submit Challenges, Underlying Problems, Solutions, Criteria, and Action Plans for feedback.

The Cohort is limited to 50 elementary/Junior registrations and 50 Middle/High School registrations.

Registration: $75

Registration Deadline: October 10th, 2025

Links to the virtual meetings will be sent to the email on the registration form by 10am on the day of the session.

Teams can have as many students, coaches, and parents on the virtual meeting as desired.

Elementary/Junior Cohort

  • Class 2 (Oct 20th) : 4:30pm-5:30pm EST 
    • Introduction to the course
    • Reading the future scene and brainstorming challenges.
    • Use breakout rooms to generate challenges based on categories.
  • Class 3 (Oct 27th) : 4:30pm-5:30pm EST
    • Review Step 1 Process
    • Writing Brainstormed Challenges
    • Use of template to learn how to write challenges
    • View Challenge Examples
    • Each team will be able to submit 4 challenges for feedback by October 29th. 
    • Feedback will be submitted back to teams by November 5th.
  • Class 4 (Nov 3rd) : 4:30pm-5:30pm EST
    • Review Step 2 Process
    • Writing UP’s
    • Avoid Critical Errors
    • View Underlying Problem Examples
    • Each team will be able to submit 1 UP for feedback by November 5th. 
    • Feedback will be submitted back to teams by November 12th.
  • Class 5 (Nov 10th) : 4:30-5:30pm EST
    • Review Step 3 Process
    • Writing Solutions
    • Using templates to practice writing solutions
    • View Solution Examples
    • Each team will be able to submit 4 solutions for feedback by November 12th.
    • Feedback will be submitted back to teams by November 19th.
  • Class 6 (Nov 17th) : 4:30-5:30pm EST
    • Review Step 5 and 6 Process
    • Criteria and Action Plan
    • Correctly Written Criteria
    • Applicable vs. Non-Applicable Criteria
    • Action Plan Template and Questions to answer within each heading
    • Each team will be able to submit 5 criteria and 1 action plan for feedback by November 19th.
    • Feedback will be submitted back to teams by November 21st.

 

Middle/High School Cohort
