KAAC Seeks Executive Director

The Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC) is Kentucky’s statewide organization that plans and administers academic competitions throughout the Commonwealth.  KAAC-sponsored competitions include Quick Recall, Future Problem Solving and related component events, Content Assessment in various academic disciplines, and Composition.  KAAC sponsors competitions at the elementary, middle grades, and high school levels, as well as additional events and summer camps.  Since 1986, KAAC competitions have raised the academic bar across the Commonwealth and affected countless lives for the better. 

The KAAC Board of Directors seeks an Executive Director to lead the Association’s staff in Frankfort, Kentucky. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position with an excellent benefits package.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. A successful applicant for Executive Director will possess the following qualifications:

  • a four-year degree from an accredited institution
  • passion for, and high-level knowledge of, academic competition in Kentucky
  • professional level written and oral communication skills
  • ability to collaborate with the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission and values according to the KAAC strategic plan 
  • proficiency in data management and web design 
  • fiscal management experience
  • high levels of integrity and ethics
  • exemplary organizational skills
  • experience in staff management and essential human resource skills
  • ability to manage and coordinate multi-tiered, statewide events  
  • demonstrated negotiation skills (i.e., contracts, employment)
  • time-management skills with the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
